Elephant Revival was anything but elephantine in their performance in Billings last night. The an Americana folk music revivalist group’s delicate and graceful music reminded more of tiptoeing than of a large, lumbering pachyderm.
The spirited five-piece brought their magnetic music to the stage, performing with amped instruments, yet kept a light, intricate sound. The band traveled from their last performance in the Ozarks of Arkansas to Billings for a third appearance at Yellowstone Valley Brewing Co.
Lead vocalist and washboard player Bonnie Paine held the crowd’s interest with her genre-bending vocals, at times jazz and blues inspired, other times seeming celtic.
